CrossFit found me in 2019 when I moved in an area in Florida where no one knew me and I walked into a gym and immediately fell in love with the sport. Seeing the positive changes that those coaches made in my life, sparked the want to be able to do that for other people. CrossFit Tailwinds, in particular, has given me the opportunity to combine my passion for CrossFit, with my passion for working in the mental health field. As a kid growing up I started playing softball, golfing, and swimming competitively at a young age. I continued swimming and softball through high school and eventually surfed competitively during my freshman and sophomore years in college.
I always remember being my own worst critic and my own worst enemy. I remember the torture of trying to find things to wear and the negative words and thoughts I had about myself. The anxiety of being in public and going places and being too concerned about what others think or see. The mental toll of always being hard on myself and never being able to identify the positive. Participating in unhealthy relationships and unhelpful ways of thinking. I remember having so much negativity, mental anguish, and really just being the barrier between myself and MYSELF. It’s hard to believe that it took as long as it did for me to actually make a change. I’ll never forget that girl because she’s shaped the person I am today and the person I know I am.
My motivation for coaching is to be a leader in the community and to continue to promote general well-being, better health, and better mental health. Movement is healing and being able to connect with so many different people and help them be the best version of themselves is the best feeling in the world to me.
